Author Statement
I am a poet and prose writer focused on writing poetry that connects with the common person. My work explores survival, emotional resilience, identity, critique of modernity and capitalism, and the reclamation of personal narrative. Through poetry and contemporary prose, I aim to transform lived experience into literary storytelling. My work tends to connect with women of all generations, especially survivors of trauma and caucasian and asian women, and the generation born between 1989 and 2006. I hope to next publish a full volume of poetry and a novel or novella.
Author Bio
The author is a poet, multimedia artist, former healthcare provider, and current biomedical research scientist based in Boston and Tokyo. She quit clinical work around a year ago because she was unhappy (and we all only get one life). Her work explores survival, memory, trauma, and the quiet (and sometimes not-so-quiet) pains of being alive. In her free time, she enjoys painting, reading, crocheting, aerial silks practice, origami, and looking at weird things under a microscope. She recently published her first poetry chapbook through Bottlecap Press, titled "Survival and Love in the Modern Machine."
